Terms of Sale

Updated

These terms apply when you buy an app on the Quits Store at getquits.app. They are the binding version of what our House Rules promise. If anything here is unclear, write to support@getquits.app.

1. Who we are, and who takes your payment

The publisher. Quits is run by PROAF SOCIETA’ A RESPONSABILITA’ LIMITATA SEMPLIFICATA (ProAF S.r.l.s.), Via Genova 7, 52100 Arezzo (AR), Italy, VAT number and tax code IT02541950511, certified email (PEC) proaf@pec.it. We make the apps, deliver them, grant your License, release the updates and answer support. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean ProAF.

The merchant of record. Payments go through Stripe Managed Payments. For every order, Sold through Link, LLC (“Link”), a Stripe company, is the merchant of record: it takes your payment, sends you the receipt and the invoice, and calculates and pays VAT and sales tax in the countries it covers, which include the EU, the UK and the US. For tax purposes, Link is the one supplying the app to you. Link and Stripe also handle payment support, disputes and fraud checks. That’s why your bank statement shows a charge starting with LINK.COM* and your receipt comes from Link.

Link’s terms for “Sold through Link” purchases, at link.com/terms, apply to the payment. We remain responsible for the apps themselves: what they do, their delivery, their updates and your rights under these terms and the law.

2. What you buy: a License

When you buy an app, you get a License for it. A License lets you:

  • use the app on up to 5 active Macs at a time, for work or personal use;
  • keep using it with no end date: nothing to renew, nothing to pay again;
  • get every update we release for that app, free. There are no paid upgrades.

A Mac is active when the app has been opened on it and has checked in with us in the last 90 days. A Mac you stop using drops out of the count on its own after 90 days, so switching Macs never needs a “deactivate” step.

A License covers the app you bought for as long as it keeps its purpose. If we ever turn an app into something with a different purpose, that is a new app with its own License, and the app you have stays yours.

The License lets you use the app; the software and its copyright stay with ProAF, and any open-source parts stay under their own licenses. Please don’t share your key or activation links, don’t redistribute the app with them, and don’t work around activation. Nothing here limits what copyright law always allows you to do.

There is no trial to download: each app page has a Demo that runs in your browser, and the 30-day refund in section 7 covers the rest.

3. Placing an order

  • The Store shows the price of each app, your discount and the total in your cart. The payment page, run by Stripe, shows the final amount, tax included, before you pay.
  • You can pay with the methods the payment page offers, such as cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Link. PayPal isn’t available.
  • Your order is complete when the payment succeeds. Right away, your Licenses are added to your Library, you get the receipt from Link and an email from us with the link to your Library.
  • Link or Stripe may decline or cancel an order in case of suspected fraud or error. If a cancelled order was charged, the full amount is refunded.

4. Activation, and using the apps offline

  • You activate an app once on each Mac, online: the app opens your browser, you sign in to your Account, and the browser sends you back to the app, activated. You never type or paste a key.
  • After that, the app works offline. When it’s online, it checks its License with us at most once a day. If you’re offline, even for months, or our servers are down, the app keeps working.
  • To count active Macs, the app sends us a code derived from your Mac’s hardware ID, never the ID itself. The Privacy Policy explains how.
  • Every app needs macOS 14 or later, and some need a newer version: each app page lists the exact requirement.

5. The 6th Mac: automatic revocation

If the same key becomes active on a 6th Mac, the key is revoked automatically and we email you a new key right away, at no cost.

  • A revoked key stops working on all your Macs: each one finds out the next time the app checks in, and asks you to activate again.
  • To activate with the new key, click the button in our email on each Mac where you use the app, or choose “Activate again” in the app. If the 6th Mac was activating from your browser at that moment, it gets the new key straight away.
  • Nobody at Quits decides a revocation, and it never takes away anything you paid for. If you think it happened by mistake, write to us and a person will look at it.

A key is also revoked when an app is refunded (section 7). In that case there is no new key.

6. Your Account

  • Your Account opens with your first purchase, using the email address you paid with. Your Licenses live in your Library.
  • There is no password: you sign in with a link we email you, or with Apple or Google. Anyone who can read your email can sign in to your Account, so keep your email account secure.
  • You can link other email addresses to your Account. Apps bought with them join the same Library and count toward the same Level. If you sign in and your Library is empty, use “Paid with another email?” in the Library.
  • You can ask us to close your Account at any time. Closing it also ends your Licenses, so we’ll confirm with you before we do it.

7. 30 days to change your mind

  • You can get a full refund of any app within 30 days of buying it, for any reason, without explaining. Write to support@getquits.app from the email you paid with, or tell us that email and the order number on your receipt.
  • We issue the refund through Stripe, and Link confirms it by email. The money goes back to the payment method you used; how quickly it shows up depends on your bank.
  • You can refund a whole order or single apps from it. You get back what you paid for each app, as shown on your receipt, tax included.
  • A refund revokes the app’s key without replacing it: the app stops working on your Macs the next time it checks in.
  • A refunded app no longer counts toward your Level. Prices you have already paid, for that app or any other, don’t change.
  • The only reason we’d refuse a refund within 30 days is obvious abuse, such as buying and refunding the same app again and again.
  • After 30 days, a refund is up to us, except where the law gives you a right to one (section 11).
  • For a payment problem, like a charge you don’t recognise or a double charge, you can also contact Link at support.link.com. Link may refund an order under its own policy within 60 days of purchase.

8. Your right of withdrawal

If you’re a consumer in the EU, the law gives you 14 days to withdraw from a purchase made online. For digital content such as our apps, that right ends once supply has begun, if you asked for supply to begin within those 14 days and acknowledged that you would lose the right (Article 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU; in Italy, article 59(1)(o) of the Consumer Code). Before you pay, we ask you to confirm both, and our purchase email confirms them. Supply begins when the License is added to your Library, right after payment. Consumers in the UK have a similar right under UK law.

In practice this takes nothing away from you:

  • the 30-day refund in section 7 is longer than the 14-day withdrawal period and doesn’t ask for a reason;
  • Link’s terms for “Sold through Link” purchases give consumers in the EU and the UK a 14-day cooling-off period from when they get access to the product, and nothing in these terms limits it.

To withdraw, send us a clear statement: by email to support@getquits.app, or by post to ProAF S.r.l.s., Via Genova 7, 52100 Arezzo (AR), Italy. You can use the model form at the end of these terms, but you don’t have to.

9. Prices, currencies and Levels

Prices. Every app costs 4.99, 9.99 or 14.99, with the same number in euros, US dollars and British pounds. The Store suggests a currency based on your browser’s region, and you can change it. Prices include tax in every country, VAT or sales tax: the payment page adds nothing on top.

If the payment page offers to charge you in your local currency, that conversion is a Link service: its rate, which includes a markup, is shown before you pay, and paying in the Store’s currency is always an option. Your bank may add its own fees for payments in a foreign currency.

Levels. The more apps you own, the less the next one costs. Your Level counts the different apps you own from the Store plus the new ones in your cart:

Level Apps Discount
Pair 2 10%
Three of a Kind 3 20%
Full House 5 30%
All In 8 40%
  • The app that reaches a Level, and every app after it, gets that Level’s discount.
  • In a cart with more apps, the biggest discounts go to the most expensive apps, so the order you add them in doesn’t matter. For example, if you own 1 app and buy 2 more, they are your 2nd and 3rd apps: one gets 10% off, the other 20% off, and the 20% goes to the pricier of the 2.
  • We calculate discounts on our server and show them in your cart before you pay. To count the apps in your Library, sign in before checkout: if you’re not signed in, only your cart counts.
  • Levels are not retroactive: reaching a Level doesn’t change what you paid before.
  • Refunded apps stop counting, and a refund never changes prices already paid.
  • Apps bought on the Mac App Store don’t count.

We may change prices, Levels and discounts in the future. A change never affects orders already paid.

10. The Mac App Store is a separate Channel

Some of our apps are also sold on the Mac App Store, at a higher price. A purchase there is between you and Apple, under Apple’s terms: it doesn’t give you a License on Quits, doesn’t appear in your Library and doesn’t count toward your Level. The same goes the other way: a Quits License doesn’t unlock the Mac App Store version. Refunds for Mac App Store purchases go through Apple.

11. Quality, and your rights under the law

Each app must work as described on its page and as you can reasonably expect, including the updates needed to keep it that way. If you’re a consumer and an app doesn’t, tell us: we’ll fix it, and if we can’t within a reasonable time, or the problem is serious, you can have a price reduction or your money back. We are responsible for faults that exist when we supply the app and show up within 2 years, or longer if the law of your country says so. In Italy these rights come from articles 135-octies and following of the Consumer Code, which implement Directive (EU) 2019/770.

These rights come on top of the 30-day refund, and nothing in these terms limits them.

12. Liability

  • Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law doesn’t allow it: for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for damage we cause on purpose or through gross negligence, or under product liability law.
  • Otherwise, we are liable for loss that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or of our negligence. We are not liable for loss that couldn’t have been foreseen when you bought the app.
  • Our apps run on your Mac, so please keep backups of your Mac, as you would with any software.
  • If you buy as a business rather than as a consumer, sections 8 and 11 don’t apply to you (the 30-day refund in section 7 does) and, as far as the law allows, our total liability for an app is limited to what you paid for it.

13. Availability and support

  • We work to keep the Store, the Library and activation online, but we can’t promise they will never be down. Apps you have activated keep working when our servers can’t be reached; activating a new Mac needs them.
  • Support is by email at support@getquits.app, in English or Italian. We aim to reply within 2 working days. Complaints go to the same address. The Support page answers the most common questions.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when the law or the Store changes, and the date at the top will show it. The terms in force when you buy apply to that purchase, and a change never takes away rights you already have for apps you bought.

15. Law and disputes

  • These terms are governed by Italian law. If you’re a consumer living in another country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you can take a dispute to its courts. For consumers living in Italy, the court of the place where they live is competent. For business customers, the courts of Arezzo, Italy, are competent.
  • Please write to us first: we’d rather solve things together. We are not committed to using an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) body; if we can’t solve a complaint together, we’ll tell you whether an ADR body could help and whether we will take part.
  • The EU online dispute resolution (ODR) platform closed on 20 July 2025, which is why there is no link to it here. If you live in the EU, the European Consumer Centre in your country can help with a complaint against a business in another EU country, for free.
